The building sat vacant in a growing state of disrepair until the current owners purchased the property in 1992. The restoration and renovation of this Lubbock landmark has been an ongoing project for the past 25 years. Hundreds of thousands of people have celebrated hundreds of weddings, receptions, parties, and other special events at The Watson Building over the past quarter century.  Call us today to add your name to our rich and growing history!

The Watson family took over the location during the 1940s, and the building was home to Watson Furniture until soon after the 1970 Lubbock tornado. 

Later in 1928, due to the craftsmanship of the building, it became a Montgomery Ward retail outlet, and was Lubbock’s first department store at the 13th Street location but decided to open one block to the north on Broadway instead.  The building was then immediately leased to the Groce family, which operated Groce Furniture through the Depression years.

The Watson Building was built in 1927 by Norman Baker, Owner-Manger of Baker Furniture.
